| In this one, Flashman has another amazing series of horrible scrapes, as well as wonderful sexual adventures, among the Indians in the American West, culminating, almost, at the Battle of the Little Bighorn, with Custer. I had wanted to know more about that incident, and Fraser gave me what I wanted and more, in terms of very even-handed description of both sides, i.e., both vile. Fraser is a master of description, and he is also a scholarly historian. |
